When Sergeant John Marlowe is drawn to a seemingly abandoned army bunker in the middle of nowhere, he thinks he's found the perfect spot for his new training camp. But once his men arrive on site they soon realize that nothing is as it seems and only one member of their team will make it out alive. As an undercover operative with NATO commandos John has spent years developing his own unique blend of military tactics which are more lethal than any conventional warfare ever conceived. But in a world of assassins, trained killers and vicious religious extremists, does a single man have what it takes to be a real one man army? " /> Official theatrical trailer: From the reviews: "In this nicely under-exposed thriller from director John Pointer, John Marlowe (Michael Paré) is an American military soldier who . . . joins forces with a group of ex-military men in order to run an elite training camp for NATO troops. He is careful not to reveal his true identity or past, and when he is asked to come up with a new training program for soldiers, Michael comes up with a scheme in which the men will be trained like they are in combat. He has them taken out into the middle of nowhere and instructed to go off in all directions - except when they try watch Michael disappear into a bunker before emerging with weapons drawn. While some of his men do not survive this exercise, Michael does, and when he returns to the camp, he is welcomed back by the remaining men . . . but none of them really know who he is or where he comes from. Thus, when the leader dies, Marlowe is left to train the men to take over his role while also carrying out NATO missions." (Jay Carr, The Boston Globe, 2/26/2008) "One Man Army" is a solidly crafted thriller that should please fans of old-fashioned action flicks - or hard-core fans of John Pointer's directorial work on "The Punisher" TV series. The film does not offer much in the way of original ideas or thought-provoking themes, but it doesn't need to. Its strong execution and Pointer's assured direction make it an enjoyable, well-paced B-grade thriller that works well as a low-budget, disposable film (why take chances when the average audience will walk away from such an offering thinking it was better than what they saw?). The atmosphere of darkness and unease throughout the film is nicely maintained by Pointer's adept work behind the camera. He maintains a steady pace throughout, ensuring that this is one of those films where you'll be surprised right up until the very end. And while the characters are interesting enough, they're not given much in the way of depth or development because there really isn't any time for it. cfa1e77820
